In recent years environmental issues have gained greater importance in European politics and employ increasingly international opinion. Although special efforts for the formulation and implementation of common policies on the environment are often hampered because of the peculiarities prevailing in each country, the environmental disasters do not recognize state borders. International cooperation to deal with them is the only way.
This project promotes the democratic participation of citizens in themes that are very high on the agenda of the political priorities of the EU. Especially enables citizens to act and involve themselves, increases the influence, the course of development of a sustainable and inclusive economy. In addition, the project will contribute to the exchange of views between local communities and decision-makers on current EU policies and their impact at the local level and will enrich the debate on the environment at local level with the European dimension. The project creates multiple benefits for the quality of the urban and suburban environment, employment, better utilization and absorption of European programs, understanding of the need for effective convergence of South-eastern Europe with EU environmental law.
